WTF FO's?!

Have I ever posted an FO on a blog before? Haha. It's been a while.

I finished my Hermione's Cable and Eyelet Hat!
Once I got past that ribbing, I flew through the pattern. And I'll definitely be making another. It was fun and quick. After the ribbing. Lol.
And I certainly see more hats in my future! I've always shied away from them. But now that I've done it and I have a better feel for the process (the dpns have always scared me with the nasty ladders) I can feel more confident. And I loved seeing it come together!

And then I finished a Zombies Need Not Apply.
It's an xmas gift for a friend. I knit the fair isle too tightly (remember, it's only my second time trying it) but I'm going to send it anyways and see if it fits my friend's tiny wrist. If not, I'll make her another one and she can do whatever she wants with this one.

25 October 2008

It's official.

My life pretty much stinks.
Last year, my grandma and my dog died. My great aunt died. My relationship started going south. It was a bad year.
This year, my relationship dissipated, I got into some really bad financial crap, Wolf lost her job. My grandpa's in ICU on pretty much an iron lung because he can't even support himself enough to breathe anymore.

And my dad just told me that my other grandpa died about 15 minutes ago.

I need a vacation. Bad.

What a completely random happenstance!

I've found a new love and obsession.
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
If you've never heard of this, go there. NOW.
You'll love it.
Really. I promise.

I'm almost done with that hat now!
I only have one more repeat of the eyelet-cable pattern and then it's right into the decreases. Whoo! And it's going to go into the Christmas bin for a random gift for whoever I think it'd fit. Yay!

And I'll be making another one in an aqua color for meeee. Pretty!

Nothing new and exciting for me really.

Friday Fill-in!!! Party, ok?

1. Right now, I'm feeling off. Really. I'm kinda down but happy at the same time. Off.
2. In the wild is where I want to be. I want to get in shape and go hiking and rock climbing. Bad. Part of the traveling bug I seem to have picked up.
3. How does one stay sane in today's world? Really. I'm going crazy. Why isn't everyone else?
4. Nothing keeps me on track. I'm as spontaneous as they come.
5. Please don't chew with your mouth open. My biggest peeve. Makes me want to punch people.
6. Matt Costa fills me with joy. He's playing in the background. Listen.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to nothing, tomorrow my plans include cleaning and carving pumpkins and Sunday, I want to watch the boys play football!

Friday Fill-ins!

1. Follow the white rabbit.
2. Deoderant is something I always take with me on vacation.
3. To achieve your goals, you must have goals to strive to achieve.
4. There is something I'd like you to know about me. I love sunflower seeds!
5. I have a pumpkin that will be carved into a piece of crap soon.
6. Rootbeer floats. Hey, they're good anytime!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm not looking forward to working, tomorrow my plans include watching some of the guys play flag football and Sunday, I want to sleep!

I really do enjoy these!
I'm knitting a bunch of scarves and maybe hats and gloves for my mom that will be donated to the church and sold at a craft fair where all the profits will be shipped off to Lottie Moon. I already finished one scarf and I'm over halfway with me other one. Yay!

I ripped back the first row that I needed to to fix the mistake on the hat. So one more row and I should be able to get. I don't know where any of this is coming from. All I know is I'm about ready to pass out from lack of sleep. Whoo, rebel!
Hope everyone has a good weekend! :)

Road trip essentials:

iPod, GPS, cigarettes, crotch, jacket. Good times, that.

& Lucia, I'd cast on again on Saturday for the hat. I did something weird that resulted in a hole when I started the K6P5 section. But I'm trying to be patient because I'm damn determined to get that hat made! I even started just ripping back slowly and carefully (it always turns out to be a disaster for me, so I wind up ripping it out), so it's taking longer, but I'm not so angsty now. ;)

Mondays suck.

JENN-A-BENN!

My darling dear Jenn wrote a rather loving blog post to me and now I feel kinda obligated to do the same! :'D

Jenn is an amazing person. Whether we're knitting, bitching about love, smoking, driving on crazy trips or just singing as loud as we can to Matt Costa, I've found we're always having fun. :] I met her when I was working at Michaels. I must admit that she was a little odd when I first met her, but she grew on me. She does that. She's my little fungus. Really. Only she doesn't stink or turn my skin yellow. It's a good thing. We first started to form a friendship when she wore her Nightmare Before Christmas jacket into work. Or a purse. Something like that. And since I love the NBC too, it was good times. We became good friends. Our bond only got better when she was helping me sweep up behind the compactor and a fixture fell on her head, officially breaking a tooth in half and leaving her with blood running down her head. It wasn't good. I freaked out. But I was the only one who had the common sense to clean the blood from around the hole in her head to see how bad it was. And during the process, she turned to me and (I'll never forget this because I almost died from laughing so hard) said "Kristen, do I still look sexy?!" Hahaha, good times that. Since then, I showed her how to knit. We've been using knitting as an excuse to hang out more then we really should. I don't get to see her every day or anything like that since she lives out of town now. But that just means that we have to work extra hard to make sure we see each other. She's been a great friend to me and I hope that I've been the same to her. She's always there when I need her. And I love that she's not afraid to call me up at 1 in the morning because she's depressed and wants to make a late-night Denny's run so we can bitch at each other. I hope that she knows how much more fun she makes my life and that she knows that I'll always be here for her, even when she doesn't really need it.

So here's to you, Jenn-a-benn! You made me go all sappy on my blog. Lol. Hopefully things work out and we'll get to knit in an hour! :) Talk to you soon, deary!

Oh and an update on the friggin' Hemione hat! I had to rip it out again. I'd made it through the second eyelet round and realized that I'd missed a huge amount on the first round. So I had to rip it out. I started it over again, though, yesterday on the trip to Apple Hill, and I'm already done with the ribbing. Hopefully it goes well now!

22nd time's a charm?

I was going to jump on the bandwagon and do the whole ten on Tuesday deal, but this one deals with tv. Which I don't watch much of anymore. >.> And what I do is usually downloaded onto my lifeline on which I'm typing right now.
-cough-
Anyways!

I finally gave in and buckled down to work on the Hermione's Cable & Eyelet Hat again. You'll remember that I finally managed to get through the 16 rows of 1x1 ribbing and had started to form the pattern for the cables before I realized I had only cast on for 101 stitches, not 110.
I'm now farther then I was when I'd had to frog it. And I'm now reminded of how important it is to gauge even for something like a hat!

UGH! I had a feeling this was coming. Since I got everything right for once on the damn thing, it's just not going to fit me. -sigh- Oh well. I'll just have to put it into the gifting pile and then make one for myself and actually
GAUGE the mess. Either way, I'm still proud of myself. It's my first hat. And my first time using the alternate cable cast-on. And successfully doing a 1x1 rib. I'm still stoked. I think this calls for a drink! Midori sour anyone???...

I haven't seen Jenn at all since Detour, so pictures are still pending. But Noah and the Whale and Matt Costa were both insanely amazing and beautiful! And we had a "pizza party" with Matt which was awesome. (: And we met one of the girls from LA Ink who was hanging out with him at his signing booth. They were both a total blast. And Noah and the Whale were awesome. I'm still stoked to have been able to meet both of them in person. Good times, that.

Male Go-go Dancers!

Good times were certainly had! HUGE post coming asap. Have to wait for Jenn to get me the rest of the pictures.
Matt Costa was amazing. And Noah and the Whale was awesome as well.
I wish that it wasn't already over. :[

Lookie lookie!

I went on Etsy again over the weekend. I try to steer away from it because I'll always wind up spending money that I don't have. But I'd seen an item that had really caught my eye and I just had to have it!

Now, normally, I also stay away from anything that's from a movie or a book. Just because of the fact that I like sly little things that only true fans would notice. With my recent infatuation with the Twilight series, you can assume what I'd been searching for.

Now, one of my favorite things that Edward did was when he put the note that said "Be Safe" in Bella's car. And I found SmileMonsters who had taken the note and made it into a lovely keychain. Lookie!

Is that not gorgeous? It's already at home on my keys as you can see. I don't know why, but the fact that it was put on a keychain just really made me lust after it. One of those things that has to give you some good juju somehow. Don't ask, I'm a little crazy.

While I was there, I also picked up the "runs with vampires" neckalce and the vampire lips that I had her turn into a pendant. I just need to find the perfect cord for it and then I'll be able to wear it! :)
The lips look a lot cuter in person. They've got some glitter in the resin so it's super sparkly. :)

They've got tons of other fun little goodies, so you should check their shop out! It's a mom-daughter thing.

Anyways, that's really the only update that I have. I have a huge bruise on my stomach from work yesterday that I'm trying to heal up. I haven't touched the hat since I had to rip it all out. And getting those goodies in the mail was really the best thing that's happened to me so far. Hopefully tomorrow goes by quickly! I can't wait for Detour!

Hope everyone's having a good week so far!
